A Voice Across Four Languages
Dr. Camara's linguistic ability mirrors the breadth of communities he has served. Soninke is his mother tongue, and he holds excellent command of Arabic and Mandinka, alongside very good proficiency in English — a range that allows his teaching and preaching to reach a wide cross-section of Gambian society.
A Journey Rooted in the Qur'an
The path of Dr. Suleiman Muhammad Camara traces one continuous thread from beginning to end: a lifelong closeness to the Qur'an. From memorisation as a child in a village Kuttab, to years of teaching in the study circles of the Prophet's Mosque, to earning an Ijazah in the Seven Qira'at and a doctorate, his story is built on discipline, recitation, and scholarship.
Today, as a university lecturer, examinations director, and dean, he carries that same discipline into institutional leadership shaping not only students, but the structures through which Islamic education is delivered in The Gambia.
As an imam, khatib, and certified reciter, his voice continues to guide congregations just as his scholarship continues to guide students.
