Mahmadu Musa Kabba - رحمه الله

Gambian educator and General Director of Imam Malik Islamic Institute. Born in Kaba Kunda, Basse, and a graduate of Al-Azhar University Cairo in 1992 with a Higher Licence in Education, he taught for 13 years at the Islamic Institute Tallinding Kunja, then served as Deputy Director of Examinations and Director of Activities, before leading Imam Malik Institute and serving as Imam and Khateeb of Sinbo Doqati Mosque with lectures across villages and mosques.

From Family Kuttab to Al-Azhar

Born in Kaba Kunda family, Basi Ongari, Upper River Region. He began learning from his father Al-Hajj Musa Kaba and his elder brother Al-Hajj Muhammad Baghori Kaba, before traveling to Cairo where he earned his preparatory, secondary and Licence from the College of Education, Al-Azhar University, graduating in 1992.

1992 - 2003

Islamic Institute, Tallinding Kunja - 13 Years

Teacher for 13 years, then Deputy Director of Examinations, Deputy Director of Culture, Da'wah and Guidance, and Director of Activities until 2003-2004.

2004 - Until Passing

Imam Malik Islamic Institute - Former General Director

Teacher, then General Director of Imam Malik Institute and its branches. Imam and Khateeb of Sinbo Doqati Mosque, with halaqas in many mosques and lectures in villages and rural areas.

The Founder of Karate in The Gambia

He introduced the art of self-defense known as Karate to the country and registered it legally, laying the foundation for a national discipline that shaped generations. Under his guidance, countless students trained with dedication including politicians, members of the Gambian Armed Forces, and even the President himself. His impact extended far beyond the dojo, influencing character, discipline, and national pride.
